This is a very pretty set of Welsh kitchen chairs. The chairs are mid nineteenth century, dating to around 1850 or so. They come from North Wales and this design of Sheraton back is very common to this region at this date. It is however unusual to see North Wales chairs with rush seats.

There are three dining chairs and the matching armchair. The armchair is particularly well done with turnings at the arm and turned arm supports and chamfered and shaped arms. The top rail to each chair is turned and blocked.

The chairs are in sound condition. Good joints. Old worm - long dead and treated. Minor losses to the rush - see photo. Slither off the wood facier to the front of the seat on one chair - see photo.

These are a very characterful set of small period welsh chairs and would look good in a cottage or farm house kitchen. They are solid and well polished.

The chair backs are 34 inches high and the seats are 18 inches wide and 16.5 inches high and the armchair is 23 inches wide from outside arm to outside arm.
