Rosewood and Brass Adjustable Pole Screen
Circa 1815, an unusual rosewood and brass adjustable pole screen. The pole screen has a brass upright rod finished with a turned mahogany finial. The screen has a rosewood frame, with a needlepoint depicting what was perhaps the familial coat of arms of the original owner. The brass rod holding the screen continues down to a circular bezel at the tripod platform base, and is held in place by a rosewood fluted tapering and turned stand. The fluted section graduates and grows larger as it continues downwards. The feet on this piece are circular and fluted, and with the gilding give it a lovely finish. There is a trade label at the bottom noting: W.N.A Chapman Ltd, 20-26 North Street, Taunton. It is a stylish piece of Regency furniture and cleaner than other examples.
Size 145cm high x 37cm wide x 34cm deep.
