Rare vintage Stratton Piccadilly compact 1959/1960
VERY RARE vintage Stratton PICCADILLY compact enamel compact mirrors unusual antique gifts for her
This compact is a rare collector's piece.
This is a rare mid-century Stratton 'Piccadilly' loose powder compact in superb condition! There were only two known years of production 1959 & 1960 & this is the only Stratton compact with the lucky four leaf clover shape. I was delighted to find this just because it was this model with no enamel loss. Then when I examined the enamel close up I realized what a tremendous find this is. The most beautiful enamel with gilt accents - the elegant quatrefoil design so splendid to see. The enamel decoration shows work of the highest calibre - tiny hand painted flowers surrounded by cream enamel set off by gilded borders, the turquoise borders the perfect colour /color contrast. This is a very rare opportunity to acquire one of the rarest Stratton models in super condition. Each edge of the lid has a gilt border which is indented to form the quatrefoil design. The mirror gives a good clear reflection - just a couple of subtle age spots on the mirror glass which in no way spoil the enjoyment of this vanity. The inner lid bears the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo & the automatic opening mechanism works perfectly every time. I am so happy to find the original puff & sifter in the powder well & the compact has been well protected by the original felt pouch. The base is decorated with the fine spiral. The base appears perfect appears perfectly flat with no dings. Only when you polish the base can you feel a subtle depression with your finger tips.
This vintage compact mirror measures 3" & weighs 94.4 grams.
