Quality 14K Gold 21J Elgin Pocket Watch
preseA top quality, Antique, 14CT solid gold, Elgin, Gentleman's Presentation Pocket Watch dating from c1896.
The 14 carat solid gold case is in excellent condition. The cover stamped "14K" for 14 carat solid gold under the case maker's name "Keystone". The inner cuvette (dust cover) stamped "Guaranteed 14K/.585 Fine" above "The K.W.C.Co" (The Keystone Watch Case Company).
The outside of the case has the owner's initials engraved "JLW" for J L Wilson. The dust cover bearing a presentation inscription
"J L Wilson, from friends, Engineering Dept. G.E.Co. New York, June 1st 1916.
The high grade movement signed by the makers "Elgin Nat'l Watch Co" and bearing the serial number 6,469839 dating it s manufacture to c1896. It has a lovely damaskeened finish and signed "21 Jewels, adjusted". It has a micro-metric regulator and safety pinion. A superb quality movement.
The dial has the hours in arabic numerals and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock. There is an outer chapter with the minutes marked in red at 5 min intervals. There is a very minor chip to the centre. Virtually the only minor imperfection in a very fine quality watch.
