Pair of Cherrywood Benches c.1860.
Beautiful pair of mid 19th.c. French cherrywood benches c.1860. A true pair, 78″ in length, solid cherrywood throughout. Single piece 1½” thick seats of fabulous colour and grain with chamfered underside and rounded edges on shaped ends and ‘sledge’ feet. Pegged construction with an unusual diagonal wedge into the tenon and an additional shaped bracket inside the leg providing extra horizontal strength without a joining stretcher. Superb colour and patina, excellent condition with just a little minor damage at the feet.
