Pair of Arts & Crafts Oak and Leather Desk Chairs
An unusual pair of Arts & Crafts oak desk chairs upholstered in dark green leather with brass stud edging. With a deep buttoned padded shaped top rail and back above a pear shaped sprung seat these are sometimes referred to as ‘cockfighting’ chairs and allow the sitter to face in reverse with their arms resting on the chair back. On substantial square tapering front legs and outsplayed legs to the back.
These are a very comfortable pair of chairs and would be a handsome addition to an office or library, in good condition and seem to have been relatively recently recovered as the smooth dark green leather only shows light signs of wear on one. There is slight movement in the arms/back of one chair and one seems to have the castors flattened on one side of the wheels (perhaps prevent it rolling too easily).
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or more photos as we are limited in the number we can upload.
The overall dimensions at the largest points are approximately
Width - 29 ½in (75cm) Depth - 28 ½in (72.5cm)
Height - 30in (76cm)
Seat area - approx 23in wide x 22 ½in deep x 18 ½in high (58.5cm x 57cm x 47cm)
Ref: 0506 Please appreciate all our items are antique and as such may have minor scratches, marks, knocks, shrinkage splits signs of old woodworm, and minor losses to veneer, which combine with care and years of polishing to create an individual character and patina. We cannot describe each marks separately and therefore suggest you do take the time to request extra photos. We do offer a 14 day money back guarantee for UK purchases but cannot refund the return shipping cost.
