Remarkable pair of mahogany four poster single beds c.1890. With tall Sheraton style posts at the head end, turned, reeded and carved with wheat sheaves, joined with a mahogany head board. Shorter posts at the foot, of slightly different design but also turned and reeded. On heavy mahogany legs with castors hidden in the block feet at both ends. Wider than a standard single, designed to take a 3'6" x 6'2" bed base and mattress. Alternatively they could be pushed together to make a super-wide double bed. Evidence of some earlier repairs and alterations, otherwise excellent condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops and sold together with two pairs of bed irons.
