Novelty Silver Plated Inkwell c.1890 - Cockerel
A magnificent and very grand figural inkwell cast in the form of Cockerel or Rooster with great detail standing on a naturalistic base, the feathers to the tail are quite wonderful.
The underside of the circular base shows that the makers mark was poorly struck so I can't read it the original fasteners are intact embossed "Sheffield".
The hinged lid lifts to reveal a removable ink chamber for ease of refilling and cleaning.
Dating to the late Victorian era, it remains in excellent condition. 6 1/4" x 5 1/2" x 9" tall.
