Nineteenth Century French carved walnut stool
This is a very elegant French stool. I would imagine it dates to around 1820 - 1850 but might be a bit earlier. The stool is classically French with carved flowers to the shaped apron and to the knees of the legs. The stool is made in walnut and stands on pretty cabriole legs terminating in knurled feet.
The stool is upholstered in a material with a design that has a lot of the French Empire design about it.
The stool is in good condition for age. One old repair to a leg - solid - see photo. Sign of old worm under seat - minor and long since dead. Upholstery clean. Woodwork rich and polished.
This is a cracking small stool. It is far too good to be hidden away in a bedroom and would look very elegant in a principal room furnished in antiques.
The stool is 20 inches wide and 18 inches deep and 16.5 inches high
