This extraordinary and uncommon mid-19th C. French marquetry inlaid Tulipwood and Kingwood secretaire commode features ornate ormolu mounts and escutcheons, with the original lock and key. The bombe shaped chest is embellished with a detailed floral marquetry decoration and stands on cabriole legs. The interior has several small drawers with a central space and a dark green leather writing surface. The commode measures 37 ¾ in – 96 cm wide, 18 ¼ in – 46.3 cm deep and 37 ½ in – 95.2 cm in height. This useful and lovely secretaire would make a stunning focal point for a wide range of rooms and settings. Thomas Crabb Antiques was founded in 1979 and is run by Stephen Roy Thomas.
