A Very Good Quality Satinwood Desk by Maples & Co. C.1900
Veneered throughout in satinwood quarter cut to drawer fronts, doors, sides and top. The back is also veneered. The centre recess has two concave doors to a cupboard. The drawers have ebony cock beading and the whole is strung with ebony. Original handles and locks. To the top is a tan coloured hide writing surface in an oval-ish cartouche shape....tooled this is original and is in good condition with a few marks and stains. The legs are solid Satinwood turned and fluted with original brass feet which house a rotating steel ball....very neat. All drawer linings and carcase in mahogany. Stamped Maple & Co. A beautiful handsome desk in very good order.
The only repairs have been some ebony cock beading and a loose back leg re-fixed on to the body.....no breaks.
Measures 4' long, 22" depth front to back and 31" high.
