Large Willian IV Mahogany Wine Cooler by Robert Robson
A fine quality large William IV figured mahogany cellarette / wine cooler by the bespoke maker Robert Robson of Newcastle. Of stunning sarcophagus form and raised on beautifully carved lion’s paw feet with hidden casters. The interior having a top quality water proof lead liner with brass carrying handles. The whole in wonderful original condition. Dimensions:- Height…23’’/ 58.5cm. Width…37’’/ 94. Depth…23.25’’/ 59cm. Delivery to most of U.K, mainland £60.
NOTE...Robert Robson was a cabinet maker with the highest of standards. Originally based in a small house at 42 Northumberland Street in Newcastle-on-Tyne. Robert Robson started his business in 1835 after serving his cabinet maker and upholsterer apprenticeship. His sons later joined the business and continued creating fine quality antique furniture. They also worked in hotels, churches and large ocean liners built on the Tyne. After Robert’s death the business continued for a further four generations before it was finally taken over by the Maples in 1953.
