Large Antique Mahogany Glazed Bookcase Cabinet
A lovely antique mahogany bookcase cabinet. We date this bookcase to the late 19th century.
The bookcase comes in three sections. The cornice, the top section and the base cupboard. The top section has two side hinged glazed doors, the right hand door is fitted with a lock and the left hand side has top and bottom catches. The interior of the cabinet has three adjustable wooden shelves with a scalloped leather front edge.
The base cabinet has two drawers fitted with drop handles on decorative backplates over a cupboard with two side hinged panel doors, the right hand door is fitted with a lock and the left hand door has top and bottom catches (key is supplied). The interior of the cupboard has a mid height removable shelf.
The bookcase has an overall height of 87" (221cm), a cornice width of 53” (135cm), a base width of 50.5" (129cm) and a base depth of 19.5" (50cm).
The internal shelf depth is 10” (25cm).
This lovely bookcase remains in a good solid condition with surface markings commensurate with age and usage, these include a bit of wear to some edges primarily to the edge of the lower left hand side.
This remains a very stylish bookcase cabinet. It could house a nice collection of books etc. and will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
