This is a stunning Japanese shibayama three fold screen which dates from the late 19th century. The screen has a wonderful central panel intricately decorated with an eagle in carved bone and mother of pearl. The smaller side sections have sparrows and blossoms. All of the panels have a pretty red lacquer border and intricately carved panels to the top and lower sections in ebonised timber. The back of the screen is equally attractive with a lovely warm orange lacquer decoration.
The screen measures 150 cms high and the central panel is 74 cms wide, the smaller panels being half of that. It is in excellent condition and easy to move around as it has it's original small ceramic castors.
