A superb Austrian bronze cold painted cockatoo inkwell and pen rest, circa 1900.

This very eye catching and pleasing novelty cockatoo desk stand is very detailed in its solid heavy casting. It retains its original paint which is in good condition with only light age related wear.

The head of the bird is hinged and opens to reveal an original fitted white porcelain inkwell together with a pen rest which is cleverly disguised amongst the branches on which the cockatoo is perched.
