Heavy antique Waltham pocket watch and chain
Heavy antique Waltham pocket watch and chain.
The watch has a seven jewel Grade No 1 stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 3,424,416 which dates it back to 1887/8.
The watch measures 58.5mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop, so slightly larger than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The heavy case is Silverode, an alloy often used in watch cases around this time and it came under various names such as Silverore and Silverine. The case is in lovely condition with nice decoration to the back, including an image of a church, although it has rubbed a little over the years.
The thick glass lens has a couple of nibbles to the deep bevelled edge, and light surface marking to the main face.
The signed dial has a couple of hairlines but they are faint. Blued steel hands.
The watch comes with a single chain, 31cm long including the T-bar and clasp.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
