A superb chinoiserie rouge lacquered and gilt ladies bureau. The raised and painted lacquered decoration with typical Chinese scenes including pagodas, mountains, bridges, trees, cranes, horses and people to the front and sides. The fall opens and rests on the opened drawer and reveals an interior with 2 drawers, pigeonhole and shelf and retaining the original tooled leather writing surface. The whole raised on tall cabriole legs with gilt outline. This decorative and unusual bureau benefits from having it’s original working lock, key and escutcheon and is excellent original condition.
