Gold pair cases, repousse - Barwise, London c1790
MOVEMENT Fine quality London gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock, diamond endstone and blued screws. Four thick round pillars. Signed and numbered (6457). All in very good original condition and running well.
DIAL White enamel in perfect condition. Possibly slightly later, early 19th century.
INNER CASE 22ct. gold, but maker (HT?) and hallmarks rubbed. In good condition though the pendant has been reattached. The bow and pendant appear to be original. A little compression around the band. The hinge is fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. Good high dome crystal with no damage.
OUTER CASE A 22ct. gold repousse pair case. The catch and hinge are good and the case snaps shut. There is some wear to the high points of the repousse work, resulting in a hole in the head of the central figure and a few other smaller holes. No repairs or other damage.
The gold cases, excluding crystal and movement, weigh 42.9 gms.
John Barwise worked in London from about 1780, before becoming Barwise & Sons in 1819.
Free worldwide postage.
Payments by cheque, bank transfer, credit & debit cards and Paypal accepted.
