A beautiful Small Georgian Chest of Drawers C.1770. and quite rare. With a Secretaire top drawer with what appears to be a brushing slide which is a dummy slide giving the desk section just that added height. Inside are three shallow drawers and pigeon holes. The whole is made from solid mahogany of a glorious faded honey colour. The drawers are lined with oak and run smoothly ( they have had replacement runners ).The handles and locks are all original but the bottom handles have had elements replaced. It appears from an inscription written in ink on the underside of one of the secretaries drawers that it belonged to a captain from a certain troop? So possibly an early campaign chest….hence it’s not veneered therefore quite robust….All original handles and fittings. A couple of the feet have been repaired ( a long time ago ) No damage, a lovely small chest to grace any home with the added bonus of a small desk…
