Georgian Oak Bureau With Secret Drawers And Well
An early oak bureau with secret compartments from the Georgian era. There are six secret compartments for small treasures to find. Also a secret well with sliding cover under the writing surface. Lovely oak of medium nut brown colour with matching brass ware (not all original) and standing on bracket feet. With two short drawers over two long drawers. Every drawer has a lock (not working) and matching escutcheons. Inside is an array of stepped compartments and a central door compartment with locking key. On either side of the door are shaped columns. All in very good condition for its age and smaller than many others of this era.
