George V Silver Plated Pierced Basket with Handle
This is a good quality Silver Plated Basket from the interwar years. The oval shaped basket has a solid base on four feet with floral decoration. The sides and rim are pierced with a diamond pattern and the high arched handle is plain.
It could be used as a small fruit basket, to hold wrapped sweets or be filled with pot pourri. It is also a very decorative item in its own right.
The basket is made by J.B Chatterley & Sons Ltd in Birmingham and dates to the 1920s or 1930s. The company manufactured in Birmingham and had a showroom in London's prestigious Hatton Garden area. They remained in business until the late 1930s.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and no splits or other damage to the pierced work. It stands securely on a its four feet without rocking and there is no plate loss of any significance. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
