George V Silver Handled Tweezers, H C Davis, 1915
This is a good quality pair of George V Sterling Silver Handled Tweezers. The silver handle is plain with a rounded end and the pincer blades are made of steel. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The tweezers were made in Birmingham by Henry Clifford Davis and date to 1915. Founded in 1901 in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, Henry Clifford Davis produced a wide range of silverware from small personal items such as manicure sets and sewing kits up to large tea and coffee sets, candlesticks and candelabra. They became H.C. Davis Ltd in the early 1930s and remained in business into the 1960s.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just a little wear to the high polished finish on the steel pincers as you would expect after over 105 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The tweezers are 9.8cm / 3.8ins long and weigh in at 9.3g / 0.33oz.
The hallmarks on the handle are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter q for 1915 and the H.C.D makers' mark for Henry Clifford Davis.
Shipping in the UK is £5 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
