This is a superb quality antique George II Welsh housekeeper’s oak food cupboard, circa 1750.

This is a superb quality antique George II Welsh housekeeper’s oak food cupboard, circa 1750. The cupboard boasts a protruding canopy above the upper section with reeded surround. The base consists of two Arcadian fielded paneled doors. The graduated drawers are pine lined and this is a typical feature of the Welsh housekeeper cupboards. The doors feature a working lock and key and the frame is built using a peg construction method. The top drawer in the base has a working lock and key. All drawers’ feature lovely brass swan neck handles with brass plate escutcheons. The cupboard features the original pine backboards and a fixed position internal pine shelf. The cupboard boasts inset oak sides. The base and top are an original match and not a marriage. The cupboard stands on shaped bracket feet. The cupboard boasts a stunning colour and patination. The cupboard has small proportions which makes it a sought after size. The cupboard dismantles into two sections for easy transport.

This item is in excellent condition. The doors and top right drawer feature a working lock and key. The sides and pine backboards are original. The brass handles are very old replacements. The internal pine shelves are fixed in height and is an old replacement. The colour of this cupboard is superb. Both parts of the cupboard are original to each other and are not a marriage. There has been some old restoration to the feet. Free of active worm-worm, solid in joint and ready to use.

UK Returns & Refunds
A 7-day “no quibble” return policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item. You will be given a refund as long as the item is returned in the same condition. The buyer is required to cover the cost of transit (the delivery cost). We will collect the item using our specialist Furniture Delivery Company to avoid any damage. We will not accept returns via a courier service due to experience of damaged items in transit. This refund policy only applies to deliveries to the UK.
