Gents WW2 Moeris army / military wrist watch.
The watch has a signed 15-jewel hand-winding movement, signed Moeris, which is working nicely.
The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is chrome plated and there is some marking and pitting in line with its age. The screw-on case back is stainless steel and it has the pheon, or military arrow, and the ATP mark.
At the beginning of the second World War, the Ministry of Defence placed orders with Swiss watch manufacturers to supply watches suitable for soldiers to wear. 17 watch makers received orders including Buren, Eterna, Record and Moeris. The watches had to conform to a certain set of specifications including 15 jewel movements, stainless steel or nickel chrome cases, white dial with outer minute track and lumed baton hands and markers.
This particular watch has its original signed dial in original finish, the luminous detail has been removed at some stage in its life, probably due to the radium content.
A later strap has been fitted.
