Gents Tissot bumper automatic wrist watch, 1952
Gents Tissot bumper automatic wrist watch, 1952.
The watch has a 17-jewel calibre 28.5-1 bumper automatic movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 2,681,613 which dates it back to 1952.
Early automatic movements such as this one relied on the rotor ‘bumping’ backwards and forwards between two springs to maintain the power within the movement. Later automatic watches have the fully rotational rotor.
The watch measures 34mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in good condition with just general light surface marks, nothing serious at all.

The lens is in lovely condition.
The signed dial has its original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There is some light freckling across the dial.
A later leather ostrich leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
