Gents over-sized Molnia regulator wrist watch
Gents over-sized Molnia regulator wrist watch.
The watch has an 18 jewel Russian Molnia movement which has been recently serviced and is working nicely. This particular movement was in production from 1960 right up until 2006, they are notoriously difficult to date precisely but we would place this one as 1960s.
The movement would originally have been in a pocket watch but it has been re-cased, probably in the 1990s, creating an over-sized watch, 50mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is nickel and it is in lovely condition.
The glass lenses to the front and back of the watch are in lovely condition.
The dial is the real star of this watch. Beautifully detailed with exploding numbers harking back to the designs of the roaring 20s.
The time is read by looking at the hour hand on the small subsidiary dial, and the minutes are on the large dial. There is also a second subsidiary dial for constant seconds.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
