French Serpentine Painted Commode In Pale Grey
Good decorative French Louis xv style commode chest of drawers, painted in a pale French grey with a lacquered finish.
Great contrast to the deliberately imperfect paint finish and the original brass drawer pulls. Well carved and stands well.
Good storage for a bedroom piece, but also decorative enough that it would work well as a living room piece, perhaps with a gilt mirror and a pair of lamps as shown for example. Do take a look at my full inventory for suitable complimentary pieces.
Three drawers and all running well, but I don't have any keys for the locks I'm afraid.
The paint finish has been done very recently and looks great, brings out the depth of the carvings and the serpentine front.
Measuring:
34” or 86.5cm high
45” or 114cm wide
21 1/4” or 54cm deep Based in Uppingham, Rutland…having been in the business for 25 years focusing on mostly French and English decorative antiques and interiors from the 18th to the early 20th century, hopefully a collection you will enjoy browsing and hopefully re home some of my finds!
