French Oak Refectory Or Tavern Table
Wonderful solid French oak farmhouse or tavern table with a good chunky top which overhangs well giving plenty of legroom at the ends, circa 1900.
This table will seat 8 in comfort and will handle anything thrown at it as a kitchen table, but can also be dressed for a dinner party too…the table top itself is just shy of 2 inches thick and is made up of five planks which have aged well.
The refectory base holds the table very securely and being a sledge foot style, it means the legs don’t get in the way of chair or human legs when sitting at it.
The frame underneath can be dismantled by removing the two tapered wedges you can see on the frame ends ( requires a mallet ).
Measuring:
29 inches or 74 cm high
29 inches or 74 cm wide
72 1/2 inches or 184 cm, long
1 3/4 inches or 4.5 cm thick top
27 3/4 inches or 70.5 cm height from the floor to the underside Based in Uppingham, Rutland…having been in the business for 25 years focusing on mostly French and English decorative antiques and interiors from the 18th to the early 20th century, hopefully a collection you will enjoy browsing and hopefully re home some of my finds!
Viewing here in Uppingham is very welcome in my spacious barn studio but also I have a showroom based within the Uppingham Antiques Centre, which is well worth a visit and have a good lunch in town too!
