This is magnificent.

This is a large standard double bed. It is French and dates to around 1890. Most French beds rely on over profuse carving and lots of gilt bronze 'bling' to appear opulent but this relies on nothing more than quality. The bed is made in birds eye mahogany with kingwood crossbanding. It has gilt bronze mounts. Look at the inlaid panel on the foot board. Have you seen anything so well done. Look at the turned columns, the arch panels. Even the side rails are veneered in birds eye mahogany. The kingwood banding stands out like the day it was made.

The bed comes with its original side rails. The bed stands true and the joints are solid. It comes with bed bases so all you will need is a standard double mattress.

Few French beds can seem so demure and yet so full of the 'wow' factor as this bed. It will bring rich opulence to any setting. I don't think there is a better period bed on Ebay.

Condition good. Marks from usage and age as you would expect. The bed splits for moving.

The bed takes a standard double mattress 54 inches wide by 75 inches long. The headboard is 60 inches high and the footboard is 32 inches high.
