French Empire style marble top commode Commode french chest of drawers marble top %%alt5%%
Super quality French Empire style marble top commode with all original brass mounts and handles, circa 1840 and in great condition.
The rich figured walnut colour tones so well against the brass mounts and handles, themselves are very detailed and crisp.
The walnut is well grained too, notice the grain runs vertically through the front on the drawers and the frame supports, in a continuous pattern.
Classic style of the Empire period and with the two turned pillar columns to the front corners with their Doric style brass caps supporting the top drawer and this wonderful slab or marble.
This commode is certainly a piece of decorative antique French antique furniture that can work in a living room as well as a bedroom storage piece.
Measuring:
37 1/4 inches or 94.5 cm high
47 1/2 inches or 121 cm wide
23 1/4 inches or 59 cm deep
1 1/2 inches or 3 cm thick marble top
