Purchased locally this fantastic Victorian campaign day bed c.1880. With a patented design by Robinsons & Sons of Ilkley it can be used flat or raised at both ends to make a very comfortable chaise longue. The frame hinges in the centre and the legs unscrew so it would take up minimum space in an officer’s baggage train. Superb quality with solid oak frame, brass hinges (each stamped for Robinsons), very strong and flexible coiled and sprung steel webbing, original pot castors and an enamelled maker’s label. A few replacement brass fixings, otherwise excellent condition, original throughout.
