Fine George III Mahogany Secretaire Chest / Desk
-Welcome to Mersham Manor Antiques-
A fine quality George III mahogany secretaire chest.
The upper secretaire section pulls open to reveal a high quality fitted interior, with an arrangement of six drawers, with a very charming central small inlaid door, which opens to reveal a further two drawers, all over twelve pigeon hole compartments. The drawers and little door front have superb rich flame figuring to the mahogany. Superb quality original circular ormolu handles to each small drawer, with the door having the original key and working lock. Over a green baize writing surface.
The front of the chest is extremely attractive, having cross-banding to the drawer fronts, and box-wood stringing inlay.
Below the secretaire section are three oak lined long graduating drawers, retaining the original blue paper lining. Having attractive octagonal brass handles.
An extremely versatile and useful piece of antique furniture of great design and craftsmanship, from the very elegant Georgian era.
Lovely patination, colour and figuring to the mahogany.
Standing on splayed feet.
In excellent antique condition.
