Fine 18th Century Mahogany Directoire Commode
A fine quality 18th Century mahogany Directoire commode with grey marble top. This quality antique French commode dating to circa 1790 has a very unusual and rare figured grey marble top with shaped rounds to the front. Sitting over the marble top are three graduated drawers with brass moulded edge and square cut handles having a lovely fleur-de-lis lock retaining the original shaped key.
The front drawers being flanked with two brass bound topped and fluted columns standing on turned mahogany feet with brass toe caps. The sides being panelled and banding with a brass mould.
This Directoire commode is a lovely quality example with a wonderful colour and in excellent condition having been fully restored using traditional wax methods. This period commode will work in both a contemporary and traditional setting.
