Edwardian Silver Photo Frame, E. Mander, 1901
This is a nice Edwardian Sterling Silver Photograph Frame. The frame is round with a ribbon and bow decoration on the top and an easel back. The visible picture size is 7.5cm / 2.9ins diameter.
The frame is made in Birmingham by E. Mander & Son and dates to 1901. Mander & Son were specialist frame makers with manufacturing premises in Birmingham and a showroom in the City of London. Founded in the 1890s, they remained in business into the early 1950s. Their silver frames are always good quality.
Condition is good with no dings or dents to the silver and just a little wear and tear to the fabric. There are a couple of nibble to the edge of the glass but these are hidden behind the silver rim when in use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The frame is 10cm / 3.9ins from top to bottom and 8.2cm / 3.2ins across. The all in weight is 90.9g / 3.2oz.
The hallmarks, on the side of the frame, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter b for 1901 and the E.M & S makers' mark for E. Mander & Son.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
