Edwardian Silver Goblet, R. Richardson, 1910

This is a very fine quality Edwardian Sterling Silver goblet in a simple but elegant style. The goblet is made in Sheffield by Richard Richardson and dates to 1910.
Richard Richardson was a firm of silversmiths and platers founded in Sheffield in 1796. They initially concentrated on Sheffield Plate and later Electroplate but in the latter part of the 19th century they began producing a variety of very good quality tableware pieces in Sterling Silver. The firm finally closed in 1940.
The goblet is in good overall condition with just some minor surface scratching, which could be polished out if desired. It stands straight and securely on a flat surface and feels nice and solid in the hand. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
This is a sizeable goblet standing 17.7cm / 7" high and 8.5cm / 3.4" in diameter. It weighs a substantial 197.5g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the side of the goblet, are well struck and clear to read. They are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the gothic date letter "s" for 1910 and the R.R makers' mark for Richard Richardson.
