Edwardian Silver Belt Buckle, Adie & Lovekin, 1906
This is a smart Edwardian Sterling Silver Two Prong Belt Buckle. The buckle is bow shaped with a rotating bar mounted with the two prongs. The arched bar for attaching to the belt is steel for strength.
The buckle was made in Birmingham by renowned silversmiths Adie & Lovekin Ltd and dates to 1906. Founded in 1863 by James Adie and Alfred Lovekin, the firm specialised in flatware, fancy goods and particularly sewing related items. Their pin cushions are highly collectable. The original partners passed away in 1913 and 1912 and the firm carried on until around 1930.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, everything in full working order and just the minimal superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 115 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The buckle is 6.5cm high by 3.4cm wide and weighs in at 10.9g.
The hallmarks, on the back of the buckle, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter g for 1906 and the A & L Ld makers' mark for Adie & Lovekin ltd. The prongs are also stamped with the lion passant for Sterling Silver.
Shipping in the UK is £4.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
