An antique Chinese elm occasional table. The top with carved edge decoration. The ends with Chinese junks under sail in a river scene with rolling waves, bridges, quayside and flowering trees. The front and back friezes with carved flowers and Chinese motifs. Standing on bowed legs with scroll feet this style of table is often referred to as an "Opium Table".
