Here we have a wonderful rare small William and Mary Oak chest of drawers c1690. As you can see the chest has great colour and patina. There is a two plank top with moulded edge. Below there is a carved almost castellated frieze. There is a deep top drawer with geometric front. There are a further two drawers below in the bottom section and with moulded fronts. The drawers have large hand cut dovetail joints and Oak linings with channelled sides for a hung drawer. There are Ash appliques to the centre and sides and the chest sits on stile feet to the rear and original squashed bun feet to the front. The chest as you imagine is of pegged mortice and tenon construction. An almost identical chest is pictured in Victor Chinnery, Oak Furniture, The British Tradition p440 pictured below. A stunning chest in great retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 35 inches wide 21 deep and 33.5 high.
