Here is a superb quality Victorian solid oak king size (5ft wide) four poster bed, showing exceptional workmanship and colour, in excellent condition, circa 1880. The bed, which was constructed in the late Victorian period, has been made from earlier oak timbers. The bed has been constructed in the style of a bed from the mid to late 17th century (Charles II period).

The headboard is constructed of nine inset panels within a reeded frame flanked by reeded vertical styles, held together by the traditional peg construction method. This panel design is replicated in the design of the recesses panel roof and panel footboard. An elegant reeded-protruding canopy surrounds the panel roof, supported by two bulbous turned front posts that stand on the block leg footboard. The footboard also features the same inset reeded panel design. The side rails feature an elegant reeded moulded design. This bed fits a standard UK king size mattress (5ft” wide x 6ft 6” long) and boasts a stunning rich deep brown oak colour.

The bed dismantles into sections and panels for ease of transport, access into a house and assembly. Notably, the headboard and roof can be dismantled into two sections to allow easy access up narrow staircases or through doorways.

This bed is accentuated with style, romance and tradition. The impression created by this bed will without doubt be a memorable one as they are genuinely unique and recreate the ultimate in luxury of a bygone age.

The bed boasts a rich warm red and brown oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

This bed is not to be confused with other four-poster beds of lesser quality in the market place today. This bed is handmade from early English oak timbers (hence the rich warm colour). The design, build quality and superstructure (thickness of panels) are of superior and exceptional quality. It is an extremely heavy bed!
