Early 18th century with possible earlier components, carved oak hall bench. This impressive bench has a tall carved back with 6 carved panels on top of three larger panels, with the following inscription (translated from German):
'God is my helper to achieve peace and defend against strife – 1707'
The seat has a lift up top with generous storage and there are acanthus carved scroll arms on the side. The base has three carved panels over an enclosed plinth base and with a strong colour and patina.
