Arts & Crafts Oak Wellington/Collectors Chest
This is a very unusual and attractive Arts & Crafts Wellington chest in excellent condition and designed in golden oak with attractive quarter-sawn ‘sun-ray’ grain to the front.
It has a rectangular top above seven drawers of graduating depth each with original ornate brass handle stamped with the registration number Rd 221060 to the reverse. There are flaps to each side with stamped hinges and brass escutcheons and there is a lock fitted to the right flap. The whole piece stands on a plinth base.
There is a brass presentation plaque to the top showing this was given to David R Tullo, secretary of the Blackford Golf Club in 1908.
Condition
This is in excellent condition with a good colour and nice handles. The top has a shrinkage line and some fade marks & dark rings and there is no key for the lock.
