Arts & Crafts Oak Sideboard, Wylie & Lochhead
This is an unusual Arts & Crafts sideboard attributed to Wylie & Lochhead of Glasgow. It is designed in quarter sawn oak and dates to circa 1900.
The upper section has a central bevelled mirror flanked by stylised blue/purple and green floral stained glass cupboards with open display shelves above. The base has a drawer and lower cupboard flanked by D shaped side shelves and open display. The doors and drawer are fitted with brass drop handles and stamped patent locks to the base, we do not have a key. For moving the top section can be removed from the base.
CONDITION
This is in good condition for it's age. There is a back place missing from one of the upper handles and the left cupboard door handle is damaged and missing it's drop, as it has catches to the inside the handle is not needed. There some shrinkage lines, ring marks to the top surface and other surface marks consistent with age.
