A beautiful antique gilt minaudiere c.1920. The first two images show the front & image five is the back.
Both the front & back have stylish Art Deco engine turned designs & oval cartouches. In person the gilt case is much more beautiful than the images show. The front opens to reveal a compartment with a framed mirror & storage space. Two inner lids open to reveal a compartment with an ancient paper insert, a puff & also a type of bolster. The other lid covers two beautifully gilded powder wells still containing the adorable little puffs. The side holding the mirror opens to show an area typically used in antique minaudieres for cigarettes & money. The whole exterior, interior & lipstick have the most delightful gilt finish. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The original cord & tassel are lovely finishing touches. Attached to the tassel is the lipstick which still retains some of the deep red lipstick which still rises from within the tube.
This antique minaudiere measures 3" X 2", the cord handle is 7" & the tassel measures 6" & it weighs 116.4 grams.
