The very stylish art deco period occasional table having a super quality green serpentine marble top over a gilded metal base, with four angular supports to shaped feet, rope twist conforming stretcher and four drop rings to the frieze, the whole in superb condition surviving from the first quarter of twentieth century England.
In very fine condition, there are no cracks or chips to the marble and the base is weighty, well made and shows a healthy patination and wear to the gilding.
The term Art Deco encompasses the distinctive styles in art, architecture and design, and is typified by bright bold colours, and stylized designs derived from the onset of industrialism, as well as artistic movements such as modernism, cubism, and futurism. It is one of the best loved, most influential, instantly recognisable, international, and elegant of all artistic periods. This table has the angles that one comes to expect from the period.
