Very impressive antique William IV mahogany sofa dating from the 1830-40 period. It's in very good original condition & has just been re-upholstered in a linen fabric. The frame has plenty of character & is sturdy too. This sofa is beautifully carved all over & the legs have that typical William IV tulip design which was unique to that period. In fact all the carving on this piece is unique to that period. The legs have the original brass capped porcelain casters attached. Please enlarge all the images to appreciate the details & the depth of the carvings. There is also a strip of brass between the upholstery & the frame, which also looks original. What I like most about this item is the slimness in the depth, which takes away the bulky look.
