Antique Waltham pocket watch and chain
Antique Waltham pocket watch and chain.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, grade 625 with 17 jewels, which is working nicely. This is a top quality movement with gold jewelled pallets, micrometer, star wheel regulator and handsomely patterned plates. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 14,755,288 dates it back to 1906.
The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickeloid and was made by the New Jersey based Keystone Watch Case Company who manufactured cases from 1875 to 1956 . The case has surface marks from years of use but nothing too detrimental at all. The case back and bezel are screw on fitting, a nice sign of quality.
The movement and case are not original to each other.
The glass lens has a small chip on the bevelled edge but overall is in very nice condition.
The signed dial has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch comes with a single chain, 32cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.
Also included is a plastic jeweller's box, 'The Waltham & Elgin watch depot', probably later in date than the watch.
