This is an antique shipwright's chest. An English, pine craftsman's tool trunk, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Pleasingly aged maritime chest
Displays a desirable aged patina
Stained pine shows copious patination

Stout lid opens smoothly, coming to rest on a rear brace
Appealing, natural interior beams in saffron yellow hues
Dressed with a brass clasp to the centre
Hand painted type reads 'J. Rees, Shipwt'
The lid bears the monogram JR in brass effect lettering

Visible dovetail joint construction shows the durable, lasting nature
