Antique Le Phare pocket watch chronograph
Antique Le Phare pocket watch chronograph.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, the Le Phare calibre 114 VCC, which is working nicely. This calibre was also produced as a hunter version, 114 CC. The was a good quality movement that was used in chronographs used in World War 1 by US and German pilots although this particular chronograph is a little more unusual was it was used to measure output.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel and it is in good condition.
The acrylic lens is in good condition.
The dial has the wording, ‘Production par heure’ which tell us that this chronograph was intended to measure output. To measure an hourly rate, the chronograph must be started at the start of a task and stopped at the end of it. The hand then indicates the average production rate per hour. The dial has two subsidiary dials, one for constant seconds and the other records up to 30 minutes.
The chrono feature is started, stopped and re-set by pressing the button on top of the winding crown. Please note that the chronograph feature is not designed to be running constantly. When re-set, the hand sets slightly to the right of zero.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
