Antique Favre - Jacot Zenith gun metal pocket watch
Antique Favre-Jacot Zenith gun metal pocket watch.
The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Zenith name.
The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is gun metal with rose gold highlights. The inside of the case is signed Georges Favre-Jacot.
Favre-Jacot was a watchmaker and watch entrepreneur who founded Fabrique des Billodes in 1865. Originally, he produced precision pocket watches that were signed with his name but after his success at the 1900 Paris Universal Exhibition, he was awarded the Grand Prix for the exceptional performance of his Zenith calibre so he adopted the name for his watches.
The case is of a more unusual design, an early attempt at protecting movements from dust and moisture although it should not be treated was being waterproof.
The glass lens is in lovely condition.
The signed dial is in lovely condition and the inner blue 24 hour dial is a nice feature to see. Breguet style numbers and hands which are in a blued steel finish.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
