A wonderful example of a hefty oversized water jug or pitcher, made from solid English Oak, with a fabulous glossy patina held together with silverplated fittings, with a quality screwed construction. Both sides have an attractive Oak rope trim.

The grand figural spout has is in the form of Bacchus. The hinged lid opens to reveal an excellent condition ceramic liner, without damage. The silver plate isn't marked but these are usually made by the well renowned John Grinsell of Birmingham and dates to the late Victorian era, around 1890.

A impressive size with the base diameter measuring 6 3/4" and spans 9" handle to spout and towering 10 1/2" to top of turned wooden finial. A fine example in excellent condition.
